Measurement and Instrumentation Principles by Morris is a book that will meet the requirements of an undergraduate student. It is written in simple English with a clean layout and has good coverage on the subject. Don't expect the book to provide indepth analysis about any concept.

Computer Networks by Peterson and Davie gives a lucid elucidation of the underlying principles of wired networks. Though a bit naive this book can be trusted to instill the fundamentals of networking in any student. The book doesn't rely on mathematical models but rather prefers to explain all the concepts in theory.
